AquaJournal is a great resource to garner inspiration and basic planted aquarium instruction from. It absolutely focuses on ADA products, but the photography is top notch, and for the beginner, the step-by-step instruction on what to consider when aquascaping is invaluable. (Especially for those folks who don’t have an aquatic plant club in their area.)

Back in the day, Dupla was the company that put out The Optimum Aquarium. It was clearly an advertisement for their products but it also contained great information. I think the Aqua Journal is very similar.
